Commentary: Fantasy basketball couldn't come soon enough

In my first season competing with the Bell Ringer's Sports Editor, Kenny Walter, in fantasy football, the results have been mixed. After week eight, my record stands at 2-5-1. That tie occurred in what could be the best head-to-head match-up in our league so far this season.
Going into Monday night of week eight, I was up by 10 points against Walter, with Colts RB Dominic Rhodes as his only player left to go. As the seconds were counting down in the fourth quarter of the Monday Night Football match-up between the Indianapolis Colts and the Tennessee Titans, I felt I had already clinched my win by a scant two points. As the Colts were driving, Rhodes almost defeated my team single-handedly by tough running after a couple screen passes. In the end, the score stood tied. Walter's record on the year after week eight is 4-3-1.
If I could play every week head-to-head with Walter's "Go Deep Sea Turtles," I would have a great deal more success by now. When I squared off against his team in week three, I won 92-83, led by a hefty 25 points from Falcons RB Michael Turner.
In games not against Walter, my team is abysmal, with a 1-5-0 record. I am very positive, however, about the rest of the season. I just traded for Peyton Manning, who I think is going to perform valiantly in the second half of the season. Now, I have the Manning brothers, one that sits in the QB spot on my roster, and one that is included in the decidedly odd Utility (in which you can put any type of player you want) Position.
I also have a fairly deep roster. Since I got rid of my starting QB at the start of the season, the putrid Derek Anderson from the Cleveland Browns, my season seems less cursed.
At press time, I am up against one of the best teams in the league, a team that features a cast of characters such as Jacksonville RB Maurice Jones-Drew, St. Louis QB Marc Bulger and Philadelphia RB Brian Westbrook. The team is 6-2, and although he isn't in my division, a win will help my playoff push. I am two games back for the last playoff spot in my division and 2.5 games back for the division lead. I will need some help with great play on the part of my team, as well as poor play by the teams ahead of me.
Now, the next endeavor is to prepare for our fantasy basketball draft, which includes Walter, as well as 2007's Sports Editor of The Bell Ringer, Justin Williams.
With another unlucky loss, fantasy basketball can't come soon enough. A fresh start would be fabulous.
