For anyone who likes to watch Dog the Bounty Hunter on A&E or likes to read novels containing suspense and action with a little love thrown in, Janet Evanovich is the author for you.

Evanovich, who is a native of New Jersey, has a set of books that she has written dedicated to one character, Stephanie Plum, who has been laid off from work and is looking for a job.

The story is set near Trenton, NJ., where family and food are an important aspect people's lives. The characters in this novel are really good. They almost remind me of some of the people I know back in the part of New Jersey that I come from.

In the story, Stephanie becomes a bounty hunter when her mother gets her a job working for her cousin. The first case she receives is to bring in Joe Morelli, who happens to be the person who Stephanie loses her virginity to, and as it so happens, everyone else knows about it.

Morelli is a complex character in this novel because he offers himself as a bad guy as well as a good guy. Morelli is a cop on the Trenton Police Force, which makes it hard for Stephanie to seek the help from the police because she fears they will cover for him. However, Stephanie has her own connections in the department, both from high school and family.

Some of the issues that the author deals with in the story are family values, confidence and rape. Stephanie, who is always low on cash, frequently drops in for dinner at her parents' house. This is a good thing because she is spending quality time with them. Confidence is a big deal in this story because it appeared to me that she thinks she cannot do it. Rape is an issue in this story because another character that Evanovich uses is a champion boxer that likes to hurt women.

Perhaps the most important character in this novel is grandma Mazur, who is by far the funniest grandma I have seen. In the story, she seems to be the most interested in what Stephanie is doing, and it seems to me that she is the most supportive toward Stephanie.

If you have ever lived in the North like I have, this story almost makes you feel like you are back up there. Evanovich makes you feel like you are a part of Stephanie Plum's family and her adventures.

Evanovich does a good job in surprising you in every chapter to see what is going to happen. Another good thing she does is she lets Stephanie talk as if she is from New Jersey. If you are from up North you will understand, and for those of you who are not; surprise, she curses a few times.

The only negative thing that I noticed about this book is the lack of editing. Evanovich is a great writer, but she is also human. In the story, I noticed a few words that looked funny, but overall, it was well written.

I also loved the ending of this book. It will surprise you and will even baffle you, so I hope you enjoy the book and will end up reading the rest of the series.
